18th January 2020 It's Saturday! We're at Matakishi's tonight for RPG gaming fun. Threads - Session 04We are in the Dreamlands on a mission to rescue the children missing from south London.
Before we could rescue the children, we needed to learn their location, this is our highest priority. We knew that there was a settlement of some sort on the other side of the chasm that we have encountered. Using some skills we picked up in the Dreamlands, we managed to reach the settlement without interference. We explored the area and found it to be mostly empty - apart from the occasional grisly discovery! We also discovered an individual who might prove to be an ally and might provide us with some information. We pushed on and found who we were looking for but made yet another shocking discovery. We ensured that the children were safely returned. We had learned who our final enemy was and we moved against them. Our assault was successful and even though we may not have entirely defeated the enemy, we put their plans back a time. Finally, we had to return to London, this involved travelling a great way through the Dreamlands until we find a place that allows us to sleep. When we woke, we were on the heath in London. The black tent was no where to be seen, but no matter we were back home. The End.

14th December 2019 Threads - Part 02Saturday is here at Matakishi's for the next session of 'The Cthulhu Hack'
At the end of the last session, we entered the mysterious black tent. It lead us to a strange looking town square. There were painted houses on wooden walls, a clown car and an empty 'Punch & Judy' stall. Whilst we are discussing out next move Punch and Judy appear and they begin fighting with each other. Then floating appear and take them away. 'That's the way to do it!'... I guess... We find a door and go through it, weirdly it leads to a strange police station. What follows is another strange series of events where we encounter one strangely distorted character from Punch & Judy after another, as well as strange locations. Eventually we find a poem. After reading it, we realise that the poem is telling us to find a number of items related to the clown car. We go about finding these items, this leads us to finding Lydia Little - Earnest's wife. we also encounter a friendly little dog. We manage to collect the items and return to the clown car. Fit all the items in, get in the car and drive away. We then find ourselves in a new strange place, what appears to be The Dreamlands! Surprisingly, the friendly little dog has now become a cat! To be continued. 7th December 2019 Threads - Part 01So it's a Saturday and we're at Matakishi's for some tabletop goodness. Tonight we are playing in the next of Matakishi's Cthulhu Hack scenarios, promisingly (Or not promisingly in reality.) title 'Threads'. It had been a while since an event had drawn the interest of the little group of investigators that we are.
We were approached by an individual wanting us to investigate the disappearance of a nine year old boy from a birthday party. They believed this had something to do with the clown that they had hired. This led to an unusual string of events. Even more children (And some adults.) had gone missing. We encountered strangely feral children on bicycles that turned out to be some sort of stunted dwarf. A weird clown that ran away from us with a unnatural gait. Bizarre and mesmerising flyers. Finally, webs, lots and lots of webs, everywhere. During our investigation many of our leads pointed towards a single location. A newly opened restaurant. Eventually, things came to ahead and during the hours of darkness, we broke into the restaurant. What we found withing is not be discussed here, but we did manage to find a rescue Ernest Little, one of the adults that had gone missing. Earnest's wife, Lydia was still missing. Further investigation led us to a black tent on the local heath. We went to investigate. With us with had Earnest, looking for Lydia. Also with us was Casper Jasper an expert of spiders we had encountered. We entered the tent and found ourselves somewhere strange. To be continued. Saturday 19th January.
In the evening we played in the 3rd of Matakishi's Cthulhu Hack adventures. This was - as Matakishi informed us - actually the first adventure that he had written of the 3. It was also the smallest, having half the page count of the previous adventure. The adventure or should I say investigation begins in media-res, which is always cool. We were close to the conclusion of a previous case when this investigation begins. Without giving anything way, we proceeded to investigate some very sneaky cultists. Luckily, we're a suspiscious bunch and let's just say, we don't get fooled twice or perhaps thrice. Since it was a shorter scenario, we concluded it in a single evening. Matakishi explained to us afterwards that there are several outcomes that can occur. I found our outcome was suitabily Lovecraftian. Saturday 12th January 2019.
This was the conclusion to 'The Flame from Space', Matakishi's 2nd Cthulhu Hack adventure. By this time we had committed some heroic deeds to foil - or at least delay the plans of the agents of unspeakable ancient horrors. However we reasoned that this might not be enough. So we went back to place we had fearfully left in the previous session to see what else we could do. What transpired there cannot be committed to written word - it may spoil the adventure. In the end our wits and experience won us through. Just don't ask Alan about it. He spent the entire session hidden in the fire engine! The new gaming year kicked off on the 5th January. 50 Fathoms - Session 01Saturday afternoon at 'The Sovereigns' pub in Woking was the venue for the 1st session of Matt's 50 Fathoms Savage Worlds campaign. We started with character creation and another addition to the Fluke family: Jacob Fluke, the even less successful relative of the Flukes. Bankrupt and on run from the wrong kind of creditors, Jacob fled a ship at night in a rowing into fog bank and emerged in the world of Caribdus. Shipwrecked on an island with some companions, we encountered the bestial worshippers of a strange monkey god who they like to appease with bloody sacrifices. We now have to fend off the giant monkey thing they have summoned. Savage Worlds: Often described as 'rules-medium', the Savage Worlds rules have been around for about 15 years and are designed to give some depth to mechanics, but to also lessen the burden on the GM. 50 Fathoms: This is a Savage Worlds campaign setting, a bit of a cross 'Pirates of the Caribbean' meats D&D! Set in the fantastical flooded world Caribdus, it blends swashbuckling, fantasy and the supernatural. Cthulhu Hack - Session 01The 5th of January was a good day of gaming: Since, a few hours after playing 50 Fathoms, I went over to Matakishi's place.
The evening continued with the 2nd of Matakishi's Cthulhu Hack adventures - 'The Flame from Space'. Our wayward characters were drawn into the mysterious events surrounding a meteor strike and the strange goings on in small village that lead to a shocking discovery. Our encounters involved strange flame entities and a visit to a strange place. It was all to much for Alan, his alpha-male yuppie bravado was all spent and the spent the latter part of the adventure hiding in a fire engine. Black Hack: Written by David Black, this is a lite RPG that has a old-school look to it, but don't be fooled. The game sneakily contains some very modern game design to it. Cthulhu Hack: This is Paul Baldowski's err hack of The Black Hack and contains several tweaks to make the rules fit the genre more. |
