2nd February 2022
It's a Wednesday afternoon and we're logged into Board Game Arena for some gaming fun.
Caveat: We've only played Century: Golem Edition digitally.
Strictly speaking Century: Golem Edition isn't a first play, the game is actually a reskinned version of Century: Spice Road.
Gone is the loose historical setting of Century: Spice Road, replaced by Century: Golem Edition's fantasy theme.
Mechanically, the 2 games are identical, you can read my blog on Century: Spice Road here. So the only difference between them are the components and Century: Golem Edition's artwork has had a major overhaul.
The artwork in the original was pretty good; colourful with good artwork and a solid ancient world east-meets-west theme but I feel Century: Golem Edition's artwork is better. It's a more brash, more colourful, cartoony style with bold, imaginative designs for all the golems.
I've always liked this kind of art style and I like in Century: Golem Edition.
I play, I paint.
